Getting Started With Your First Script

This is a simple guide to help you get started creating your first script.

There are so many ways you can build scripts and endless possibilities for what you could say. So it’s normal if it feels overwhelming at first and you don’t know where to begin! The good news is, once you create your first script, ideas will start flowing and you’ll quickly see other use cases pop up.

Here’s a simple guide to help you get started:

1. Pick a scenario

Think of a situation you actually find yourself in:

- Ordering a coffee

- Asking how much something costs

- Checking if they have your size

- Asking if they accept card payments

2. Write 3–5 simple lines

Figure out how to say it in your target language. We leave the “translation” part up to you because you know what you want to learn.

For example:

- “Hello, could I have a coffee please?”

- “Can I get it to takeaway?”

- “How much is it?”

3. Add replies (optional)

Jot down what the other person might say, so you can practice both sides of the exchange.

4. Play and repeat

Use ParrotPad to listen and repeat the lines. This is where you get your reps in and build muscle memory.

💡 Tips to spark ideas:

- Think of phrases you hear day-to-day and turn them into a script.

- Use lines you want to sound confident saying (introducing yourself, making a request, greeting someone).

- Don’t overcomplicate it. Even two lines is a great start.
