We’re still in beta, so you might notice the odd accent that sounds a little squawky or a phrase that comes out funny. Thanks for helping us smooth things out as we grow.

Who is this for?
ParrotPad is for people who want to improve their speaking and listening.

If you’re a beginner, you can start small with basics like greetings and numbers - and ParrotPad works even better if you’re pairing it with a course or lessons that teach you new material.

If you’re intermediate or advanced, you can build scripts for the conversations you actually want to have, or really refine your pronunciation so you sound more natural.

And it doesn’t stop at language learning. People also use ParrotPad to rehearse job interviews, presentations, speeches, or even tricky conversations. It’s your personal phrasebook - or scriptbook - that grows with you, whatever you’re preparing for.
Is this an effective way to learn?
There are so many apps and methods out there, it’s easy to wonder why this one’s different.

Other tools are great for giving you rich content, new words, grammar, stories, and conversations. ParrotPad fits alongside them. We’re the part that helps you take what you’ve learned and actually say it out loud until it sticks. To be clear, ParrotPad isn’t the only tool you’ll ever need. Languages take a mix of input: listening, reading, conversations. But here’s the catch: most tools pile on content without giving you the space to say it out loud until it becomes muscle memory.

That’s where we fit in. ParrotPad is the glue that ties everything together:

✅ Repeat lines until they stick, like athletes drilling moves or musicians rehearsing riffs.
✅ Practice what you actually want to say, so it’s immediately useful.
✅ Rehearse anywhere - walking, cooking, commuting... so it blends into life instead of feeling like homework.

We stripped out the noise. At its core, language is about saying what you want to say. ParrotPad helps you do exactly that: capture your own lines, hear them back, and rehearse until they stick. No streaks, no fluff. Just the fastest path from knowing a phrase in your head to saying it out loud.
But how do I know what the words mean?
Fair question. ParrotPad isn’t here to teach you long word lists - it’s here to help you practice the lines you actually want to say. You choose them, so you already know what they’re about. And if you forget, you can always look it up.

At first it might feel strange to say sentences without knowing every single word. But that’s normal - and it’s actually the best way to learn. When you rely on side-by-side translations, you keep translating in your head. With ParrotPad, you practice straight in your new language, so your brain starts to answer naturally, without the lag.
How do the native voices work?
ParrotPad uses text-to-speech AI voices trained by native speakers. That means when you rehearse your lines, you’re hearing clear, natural pronunciation you can shadow from.

They’re not perfect, every now and then a word might sound a little quirky. But most of the time, they’ll give you exactly what you need: like a parrot-on-your-shoulder, repeating your lines back until they stick. However if you notice any odd squeaks, let us know and we'll look into it.

And just like your learning, our voices keep getting better over time. 🦜
Do I need to know grammar first?
No. You can start with whatever you’ve got - even just a few phrases. ParrotPad helps you practice them until they feel natural. Over time, the patterns in those sentences start to stick, and you’ll notice the grammar behind them.

It’s a bit like learning backwards: first you get comfortable saying things, then you connect the dots to the rules. You don’t need to master the theory before you can start speaking.

Stay in the loop.
